This project is a multi-level house that is best understood through movement. The project
accommodates a variety of public and private functions, each with a unique set of requirements and a varying need for independence. A meandering promenade that progresses from the basement floor to the roof terrace establishes both formal and experiential cohesion to the diverse assembly of spaces. Circumventing the private areas of the house, the promenade makes use of planted courtyards, interior overlooks, and external terrace spaces to provide ancillary moments of pause and unexpected discovery. Experienced like a small village, the promenade house is a design that allows its occupants to take joy in the act of wandering.
