Situated at the garden’s edge of a family property, this house was built for a client who sought an uncomplicated way of living that engaged with the natural surroundings. An architectural gesture composed of two volumes connected by an intermediate court organizes the diverse spaces of the house into a shared orientation over the garden. A reduced pallet of materials is chosen to realize the design of the house. Relying not on complicated details, but inherent tectonics to modulate light, transparency, and texture, the house is both a statement and a vessel for a subdued practice of habitation.
